Name: Land Registry
Industry: Government
Project Summary: Analysis of Diversity targets and benchmarking of positive action programmes
Business Issue: Land Registry recognises that diversity must be one of its key competences if it is to provide a fair and appropriate service to all of its customers. To this end, Land Registry published its Diversity Delivery Plan in 2005, which contained diversity targets. By 2008, these targets were in need of significant review.
PTI Action: Land Registry commissioned PTI to complete both the analysis of diversity targets (by gender, ethnicity, disability for each grade within the organisation) and the benchmarking of positive action programmes across the public and private sectors. We first established the baseline through detailed research of population statistics and Land Registry workforce data from 2001-2008. We then suggested targets from the research that were appropriate for Land Registry, the environment in which it operates and its aspirations and obligations as a public sector organisation.
Business Result: Land Registry was able to publish its revised Diversity Delivery Plan secure in the knowledge that its diversity targets were grounded in solid research, appropriate for its needs and in line with the expectations and compliance requirements placed upon UK public organisations.
