Project Summary: Deployment of InclusionIndex™ across 14,000 staff. Various training and development programmes on diversity awareness, impact assessment and Dignity at Work.

Business Issue: Through InclusionIndex, NHS Tayside wanted to understand more about the feelings and experiences of diverse groups of employees, identify any vulnerable or excluded groups, as well pinpoint areas of good practice. The diversity awareness training programmes were designed to introduce as many staff as possible to diversity as a concept for a productive workforce as well as a vehicle for world-class service delivery.

PTI Action: PTI deployed InclusionIndex™ across all 14,000 staff in NHS Tayside via paper and electronic survey. The data was analysed to ascertain the extent to which different groups in the NHS Tayside workforce felt included or excluded by examining practices and behaviours in 10 core areas including leadership, promotion, bullying and harassment and communication. PTI training modules have also been rolled out to over 500 NHS Tayside staff, a programme which will continue until at least the end of 2009.

Business Result: The InclusionIndex tool has allowed NHS Tayside to monitor inclusion for the first time across multiple demographic and geographic groups. Our training workshops have received some outstanding feedback from participants in all functions and disciplines within the NHS Tayside workforce.
