Clients - Scottish Borders Council

Name: Scottish Borders Council

Industry: Government

Project Summary: Diversity awareness, impact assessment and poverty awareness training.

Business Issue: Scottish Borders is a region steeped in a rich history and with a strong Christian heritage. In recent years, the population has seen a slight increase due to people moving into Borders from outside and this, amongst other factors, has driven a need for a better understanding of diversity within the Council workforce.

PTI Action: PTI was retained by Scottish Borders Council to research, design and deliver over 120 sessions on Equality and Diversity which covered the six equality strands and the behavioural aspects of Equality and Diversity. We also designed and delivered an innovative module on poverty awareness for specific Council staff and a programme of impact assessment workshops. The sessions were developed for a variety of functions and grades, ensuring that the content was tailored appropriately to participants from all backgrounds, disciplines and departments.

Business Result: By the end of the programme in December 2009, PTI will have delivered training to over 2,500 staff across various levels and functions within the Council. The feedback has been universally positive from both participants and the client project team.
